¡Meraviglioso! Small Vineyards’ Italian Direct Imports

Small Vineyards Direct Import Wines:
About twice a year we get the chance to taste wines at Small Vineyards Direct Import events. We essentially have to choose the wines right then and there, and only a small amount is imported to the US. So this means there is less available to the general market, so enjoy it and let us know right away if you would like more, and we can try to fulfill any requests. These wines go perfectly with holiday feasts, or can just be enjoyed on a cold night with simple, flavorful foods.

07 Bocceli Poggioncino Rosso Toscano
Yes, believe it or not, Andrea Bocelli, the famous opera singer is also very well known for making wine. Along with brother Alberto and sister-in-law Cinzia, the family keeps output very small and traditional, resulting in less than 500 cases a year total production. The Poggioncino is a blend of the best grapes Tuscany can offer: Sangiovese makes up the predominant part of the blend at 60%, followed by 20% Canaiolo, 10% Colorino, and 10% Malvasia Bianca. The last grape is a white one, Malvasia Bianca, which offers bright and floral notes that play against the richer, darker aromas and flavors of the Sangiovese and Canaiolo. The result is a symphony of rustic and elegant flavor, combined with only the expertise and wonder that smaller wineries can provide: voluptuous dark berry, violet, and hints of coffee on the nose lead to rich blackberry, cherry, and touches of oak along with earthy sage and licorice on the finish.

NV Barbolini Lambrusco Lancillotto
Unique and beautiful, the first thing that will grab your attention is the dark yet vibrant color of this sparkling red wine. Next, the aromas will awaken your senses, evoking fresh grape along with violet, berry, all tinged with a bit of earthiness. Despite the dark color and full flavor of this wine, its overall presentation comes off dry, which is the truly unique and exciting thing about the Lancillotto. Considered the perfect holiday meal wine, this is not just meant to be used in toasts - it goes brilliantly with roasted turkey, ham, or lamb. It is fun to experiment with different styles of salami and cheese as well, for each will provide a different experience of flavor.
